Inward Hunger Part 3 – Power, will be screened at the Kwame Ture Memorial Lecture Series and Film Festival this Thursday 18th July, at the NALIS, Auditorium , POS at 7pm. It promises to be an exciting evening as discussants to the film include Mr Ferdie Ferreira who was a stalwart of the PNM and confidante of Dr Eric Williams and Khafra Kambon a leading figure of the Black Power Movement. Dr Toussaint, will also share his research and insights on the period. Dr Claudius Fergus, former head of History Department U.W.I. will moderate the evening’s proceedings.
Inward Hunger, Directed by Mariel Brown was the winner of the Best Local Feature Film, at the Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival, 2012. Inward Hunger is the second to last film to be screened in what has been a well received, series of films during the KTMLS and Film Festival. Trinidad Audiences were treated to the viewing of Blackklansman, Eyes on the Prize, If Beale Street could Talk and Haiti Bride by Yao Ramesar. Brother Ramesar led the audience on a far reaching discussion not only on the history and current situation in Haiti, but also on film production in Trinidad and Tobago.
The final film in the series, Footprints of Pan Africanism by award winning film producer Shirikiani Anni, originally of Ethiopia, will be held on Thursday July 25th. Her film traces the coming into nationhood of Ghana and its pan African influences. That film will be introduced with a reading from Attillah Springer, from her short story, Castle in the Sand, published in New Daughters of Africa, edited by Margaret Busby. The audience has an opportunity to share in the discussions, that will follow.
